My piece HASHTAG GIRLZ INSPO was shown at the Arts University Bournemouth, in 2017 and Free Range, in 2017 at Old Truman Brewery, Brick Lane, London.
It's a 360-degree fitness film, relating to the obsessive nature of self-esteem across social media sites.
THE NICHOLAS DURBRIDGE PRIZE
I was awarded The Nicholas Durbridge prize for collaboration at the Arts University Bournemouth.
"My video is representing the female figure that is being controlled by online behaviours, such as this healthy living lifestyle. It’s showing how we conform to the influences we face online, especially as young females. The piece relates to Henri Tajfel and John Turner (1979) theories about social identification and social comparison. This is when you begin to adapt your identity to the group you have been situated in. When placing this theory in an online experience as a young female, the group and connections are so large, that you can see how the mind can adapt and conform to what we believe is the norm of social media. Following the trends and trying to become this alter ego-image that is so heavily forced across social networking."
